Unseasonal increases

Posted by: Dane Elliott

Earlier this month temperatures in Doncaster reached 17 degrees. Normally, I wouldn’t give that a second thought, except we are now in November and the weather folk on TV are calling it ‘unusually high’.

Now, I’m no expert on the science of climate change, so I’m not even going to attempt to make a link between these ‘unusually high’ temperatures and global warming. But, the very reaction of those charged with dispensing our daily weather bulletins does make you think.

And, although we’ve always had a fascination with the weather, these unseasonal increases are starting to get some people thinking more about the environment. And that’s a good thing.

At Keepmoat, we’re in a privileged position. We build houses, we refurbish homes and we’re delivering regeneration across a number of communities in the UK. We talk to people of all tenures, and we are starting to notice a shift change towards what people want from their homes. And a sustainable home, with lower fuel bills is creeping up the priority list.

We are pulling out all of the stops to make sure that our business is central to the sustainability agenda and that we can offer products that will soon become driven by the market - new houses built to Levels 5 and 6 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and refurbished homes that break the energy efficiency mould.

And our passion for this is highlighted by our commitment to the Grand Designs Great British Refurb campaign and we can’t wait to get stuck in and refurbish the lucky winner’s home.
